Simply put, the entry-level Mercedes had a split personality. Half the models
appealed to the traditional buyer who loved polished wood and creamy leather.
The other half — after years of comparing unfavorably to BMW and Audi — was
finally poised to capture the youthful enthusiast in search of a true sport sedan.
